Wellsfield Fishery

Wellsfield Trout Fishery in Scotland is one of the best and most popular day ticket fisheries (fly & bait) in Scotland. We would love to request the pleasure of your company for a day’s trout fishing at Wellsfield Trout Fishery.

The trout fishery comprises of 3 well-stocked lochans set in a 30 acre location:
Lochan Hearadh – 5 acres of Fly Fishing from the bank (19ft deep, 45 pegs).
Lochan Uaithne – 4 acres of Fly Fishing from the bank (18ft deep, 20 pegs).
Lochan Fionn – 3 acres of Bait fishing from the bank (20ft deep, 25 pegs).
90 Fishing Pegs (some are wheelchair friendly).

Facilities include: Fishery Lodge Cabin, Toilets (Ladies, Gents and Disabled), Tackle Shop, Rod Hire, Hot Food, Snacks and Refreshments, Fishing / Casting Tuition, Private Car Park for 40 Cars with Coach Parking, Waterside Fishing Shelters, Fishing Pegs with Seats, Disabled Platforms and Car Access.

The fishery is set in beautiful natural surroundings. It is spring fed with crystal clear water plus a natural feeder burn. There is an abundance of natural insect life and an abundance of aquatic life including nymphs, buzzers, fry, minnow, stickleback, beetles, shrimp, snails, flies, amphibians and terrestrials which encourages the trout to be free rising, in fact it is not unusual to see trout rising even on the coldest and dullest of days, giving excellent surface sport.

Floating, intermediate and sinking lines work well with a long leader. Buzzers, Bloodworm, Nymphs (Pheasant Tail, Hares Ear, Damsels, Dragonfly), Attractor Lures, Cats, Fritzs, Crafetyes, Dancers, Wagglers, Emergers, Dry Flies and selections of traditional wet flies all catch plenty fish.

Full Time Fishery Manager and Bailiffs always on hand to give assistance and advice.

We stock weekly with Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout and Blue Trout from 2lb to 20lb+! and manage stocks to ensure the average angler catches his fish limit during average fishing conditions.

We offer a range of Fishing Permits including: Take Permits for Bait Fishing, Take Permits with Catch and Release for Fly Fishing, and Sporting Permits (100% C&R) for Fly Fishing.

We sell fishing tackle on site, including fly and bait fishing kits, fly rods, fly reels, fly lines, landing nets, bass bags, flies and lures, fluorocarbon and leader material, spinning rods, spinning reels, nylon, rod rests, bubble floats, weights, hooks, swivels, spinners.

We always sell bait at the fishery – Worms, Maggots and Wasp Grubs.

We also hire out fly rods, spinning rods and landing nets
